Cricket is a game between two teams. Each team consists of 11 players on the field. There are three formats of playing cricket at international level- one-day internationals (ODI), test matches and Twenty20.
In the Indian team, a total of 24 players has captained the team one or more times in the ODI matches. The first ODI captain of India was Ajit Wadekar, captained in 1974 for two games. Mahendra Singh Dhoni captained 200 games and is the most successful captain in Indian cricket history with 110 winning matches. Mohammad Azharuddin captained 174 games, and Saurav Ganguly captained 146 games.
