    Following the retirement of veteran Jaques Kallis, Cricket South Africa was desperately in need of fast bowling all-rounder who can bat as well as bowl to provide stability in the side. Then the young man named Andile Phehlukwayo appeared during ICC U-19 World cup 2014 and impressed everyone with his all-around abilities. He also made his First-Class debut in the same year when he played in the U-19 Wrld cup. He was the leading wicket-taker in the 2018 Africa T20 Cup. He usually bowl during the mid overs and tries to deceive batsmen with his variations especially knuckle ball.

    Andile made his ODI debut in 2016 against Ireland, T20I debut against Sri Lanka in 2017, and Test debut against Bangladesh in 2017. Since his debut for the South African side, He is been a regular member of the squad and had represented South Africa in major ICC tournaments. Following the conclusion of ICC World Cup 2019, he was named as the rising star of the squad by the International Cricket Council.
