Craig Kieswetter Full Biography
The South African-born tall, explosive wicketkeeper-batsman Craig Kieswetter is one of those players whose career was cut down to only three years due to serious injuries. He had represented South Africa U-19 in the 2006 U-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka. He later moved to England to make his career there. South African captain Graeme Smith at that time invited him to play for the South African senior team, but he refused. His style of play highly resembles his South African-born teammate Kevin Pietersen, which is why he’s being compared to him. Being known as the white-ball specialist, he scored 248 runs in the 2009 Twenty20 Cup, which helped Somerset reach the final, but Sussex beat them in the final.
Craig Kieswetter made his first-class debut in 2007, and after three years, ECB picked him up for the tour of Bangladesh in the early 2010s. Later in May, he made his T20I debut against West Indies. He was part of the squad which won the ICC 2010 T20I World Cup. He played superbly throughout the tournament and was awarded man of the match in the grand final for his superb knock of 63 off 49 balls. But his career was cut short due to the eye injury where the ball hit his eye coming through the helmet’s grill.
