Disney Star In Talks With Sun TV To Sell Hotstar And Star India
Disney Star is in talks with Sun TV to sell its India streaming and television business, including the popular streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar, according to a report by Bloomberg News. The deal, if it goes through, would be one of the biggest media mergers in India’s history.
Disney Star has been struggling to compete with the likes of Reliance Industries’ JioCinema and Amazon Prime Video in the Indian streaming market. In addition, Disney has been facing increasing pressure from shareholders to focus on its core businesses in the United States.

Sun TV is one of the largest media companies in India, with a strong presence in television and regional cinema. The company has been looking to expand its digital footprint, and acquiring Disney+ Hotstar would give it a significant boost in that area.
