Hailed from the streets of Kabul by playing streets cricket later started playing leather ball cricket. A young promising teenage wicketkeeper with solid technique came into the limelight when he scores an unbeaten century against Pakistan in ACC U-19 Asia Cup 201. Before hitting the age of 19, he already represented his nation in three major tournaments including 2 ICC U-19 World Cups and one ACC U-19 Aisa Cup in 2017.
In the U-19 world cup, in a semifinal against Australia Ikram scored 80 runs while the whole batting collapsed. His prolific records with the against in age-group cricket. He was called by selectors for his debut. In ICC World Cup 2019, with the immediate injury of Muhammad Shahzad, Ikram was added to the playing eleven. He was sent down the order but in the last league game against West Indies, Ikram scored was sent up the order and scored 86* runs and showed his class.
