Jeje Lalpekhlua Fanai is an Indian professional footballer who last played as a striker for the Indian Super League club East Bengal. He was born on 7 January 1991 in Hnahthial, Mizoram, India.
He is the 2nd-highest Indian goalscorer in Indian Super League history; also, he secured the highest scorer for Chennaiyin. Jeje achieved the 2014–15 I-League with Mohun Bagan and the 2015 Indian Super League with Chennaiyin, winning the 2015–16 FPAI Indian Player of the Twelve-month and the AIFF Men’s Player of the Year Award.
He is widely considered as one of the best footballers of all time.

He was born in the small town(village) of Hnahthial in Mizoram; Being lucky that he was born in a football fanatic family. His father and elder brother performed for a local Mizoram club – The Model Sporting Club, while his uncle played for Mizoram in the Santosh Trophy. Lalpekhlua made his debut for the Model Sporting Club 4-months after his father had retired from the club.
Jeje Lalpekhlua Earlier Life –
Lalpekhlua came to the spotlight after a spectacular play at the Wai Wai Cup held in Mizoram. Because of his powerful performance, Lalpekhlua made it to the Mizoram U-19 squad. He affected youth coach Colm Total at the U-19 selection camp in Gwalior and selected U19 qualifiers.
In the starting time, he used to perform in the defence as a centre-back or a left-back but shifted to playing striker after his father encouraged him to do so. He completed his debut for the senior Indian team on 21 March 2011, against Chinese Taipei in an AFC Challenge Cup qualification game.

Jeje Lalpekhlua Career –
Jeje started his career with the Model Sporting Club, which his father and brother performed. Outstanding performances saw him named up to the Mizoram Under-19 squad.
Scouted by the Goa scouts, Jeje joined the Red Lizards as a 16-year-old. Instated to the Under-19 national setup, he captained the India U-19 team at the South Asian Games. After then he joined Pune in 2008.
He completed his debut for the senior Indian team on 21 March 2011, against Chinese Taipei in an AFC Challenge Cup qualification game.
Jeje performed a great performance, as he scored a goal in his debut match, and he even scored a brace in his 2nd match for the national side against Pakistan. He maintained this level of performance and standard himself as a beginner for the Indian national football team.

Jeje Lalpekhlua International career –
On 23 February 2011, Lalpekhlua performed his first game and secured his first goal for the Indian U-23 team in the 2–1 victory over the Myanmar U-23 team. Although On 21 March 2011, Lalpekhlua made his debut for the senior India national football squad in the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualification against Chinese Taipei and secured a goal. On 23 March 2011, Lalpekhlua secured 2-more goals in his 2nd match for the Indian national football team against Pakistan in another AFC Challenge Cup Qualification match.
Jeje secured the only goal of winning against Afghanistan in Bangladesh’s SAFF Cup group stage game. After leading the Indian U19 squad to the South Asian Games in Sri Lanka, He secured a hat-trick against Pakistan in a 5–1 success in the last group stage game.
He also set up 4-goals in his first 3-senior appearances for the India national football squad. He also performed a crucial role in India’s 2011 SAFF Cup championship success. In the 2015 SAFF Cup, he secured 3-goals, including an equalizer in the final, as India won 2–1 after additional time.
