The stylish left-hand bat with a great hunger to score runs at a higher level named “Rory Burns” was first introduced in first-class cricket by his hometown club Surrey. While playing for Surrey, he scored over a thousand plus runs consecutively for five seasons. In 2018, Rory Burns scoring over 1300+ led Surrey to their first  County Championship title since 2002. The explosive form with the bat amid the retirement of Sir Alastair Cook made him the automatic selection in England team.

Replacing Alastair Cook in 2018, he was added to the squad for their tour to Sri Lanka. Struggled with the bat at first yet ECB gave him the confidence to play to his full potential. Given the confidence, Rory Burns ended 2019 Ashes as the third-highest runs getter for England in the series. However, inconsistency with bat gets him dropped several times. Therefore, he made an impressive comeback in the home series against New Zealand in 2021 and earned the player of the series award. This boosted his confidence a lot and later ECB showed trust in him and got selected him for the 2021-2022 Ashes in Australia.
