Steven Benedic Dias is an Indian former professional footballer who last performed for Mumbai FC in the I-League. He was born on 25 December 1983 in Mumbai, India, and is currently the assistant coach of ISL outfit Odisha FC. An attacking midfielder who performs on the wings is known for long-range shooting, crossing, and passing. In 2006 Dias made his debut for India and became a mainstay in the Indian midfield. He is recognized as the “David Beckham of India.”

Steven Dias Career –

Steven performed for one of India’s leading clubs, Mahindra United (before the club withdrew from Indian football on 30 April 2010), and served in their NFL winning team and the AFC Cup.

He has since performed for clubs in the I-League, such as Churchill Brothers, where he made 25 appearances and secured four goals. He has also performed for Mumbai Tigers, Rangdajied United, Delhi Dynamos FC in the inaugural season of the ISL, and Bharat FC, where he made seventeen appearances. He signed the agreement for Mumbai FC in 2016 after Bharat FC withdrew from the I-league.

Dias has started a club-appointed Ambitious Football Academy in Don Bosco vidya vihar. He expected to bring a sensation of football to the youth of Mumbai.

Steven Dias International Career –

Steven made his debut for India in 2004 and was a part of the squad that unfortunately attempted to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup 2007. He performed in India’s first Nehru cup title in 2007, scoring double in a 6–0 win over Cambodia. He generally takes corners for India and cuts directly from one in a 2–2 draw against Lebanon. He was a regular for the Indian National team and performed an integral role in India’s victory in the 2008 AFC Challenge Cup.

He was a key performer in India’s success over Syria in the Nehru Cup of 2009. He contributed to India’s qualification for the 2011 Asian Cup in Qatar. He had been selected to be part of the 30 man team preparing for the 2011 Asian Cup in Doha. His combination and knowledge with Sunil Chhetri’s striker made them a very threatening duo.
