Hailed from the small village near the district Dadu, Sindh. Zahid Mahmood is the perfect example of a small-town kid with big city dreams. Although he made his first-class debut way back in 2009 for Hyderabad against Multan, yet he waited for 10 long years to make it into the national squad. In this long period of time apart from cricket, he continued his studies and got a degree in physical education. His father was a Government servant who wanted Zahid to secure a government job but he has some other plans.
Zahid Mahmood came into the limelight after his career-best figures of 10/98 in his first match of season 2020-21. He was the 3rd highest wicket-taker in concluded Quaid-e-Azam trophy, which made him ready for international cricket. He was picked in-home T20I series against South Africa, he got a chance in a 3rd T20I. In his debut match, he took 3 wickets to restrict the opposition. In March 2021, he was named to the Test squad for the tour of Zimbabwe.
