Former Indian allrounder Ajit Agarkar has been appointed as Chief selector of Indian men’s cricket by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The post of chairman of selectors was vacant since February 2023, Former Chairman Chetan Sharma was asked to resign in February from the national selection committee chairman’s post for revealing classified information about the Indian team.
Ajit Agarkar played 26 Tests for India, 191 one-day internationals and four T20 matches, taking a total of 349 wickets across all formats. He was also part of the 2007 T20 WorldCup winning squad.
“The three-member CAC has unanimously recommended Mr Ajit Agarkar for the said position,” the release stated.
Earlier, Virender Sehwag was also approached by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials to apply for the vacant post of chief selector in the national team.
