Jadeja’s replacement, Axar Patel, was earlier announced as one of the standbys in the team and will join the team in Dubai soon. Jadeja’s injury will be a major blow to the Indian team as the reliable all-rounder was the Rohit Sharma-led side’s top performer in the five-wicket win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 opener alongside others.
Jadeja had left behind former pacer Irfan Pathan to become India’s highest wicket-taker in the history of the Asia Cup tournament. Jadeja achieved this achievement very recently during his side’s Group A tie against Hong Kong in Dubai in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. Jadeja took 23 wickets across the six Asia Cup tournaments that he played in.
