In the Eliminator match between Mumbai Indians vs Lucknow Super Giants at MA Chidambaram Stadium MI thrashed LSG by 81 runs. Batting first MI put a total of 183 on the board to defend, Cameron Green scored 41 runs off 23 balls. Naveen ul Haq took four wickets in four overs and gave 38 runs (4-38-4) from the LSG side.

Mumbai Indian’s success was set by Akash Madhwal, he became the first bowler to take five wickets in the history of IPL playoffs, Madhwal utterly destroyed LSG by taking 5 wickets he gave 5 runs in 3.3 overs (3.3-5-5) with an economy rate of 1.4 took MI to Victory.
Akash Mandhwal was praised by Harsha Bhogle during the award ceremony after the match and said “The trophy looks good in your hands”.
When asked where he was hidden all these days Mandhwal Answered “I was practising and was waiting to get this opportunity for a long time”. He said
“First I did Engineering then I followed my passion as I used to play tennis ball cricket, I got affiliation in 2018 from Uttarakhand then I made cricket my passion and did hard work to reach here”
When Harsha Bhogle said everyone says Akash learns very quickly Mandhwal replied “That is the tendency of every Engineer’s we have very quick learning powers” he also said “I executed in the match what I practice day and night, We practice what is setup and taught by the Coaches, with the help and guidance of the management and the coaches we are able to execute well” Akash stated.
Akash Mandhwal was a Civil Engineer by profession before he became a professional cricketer, He quit his Engineering job and picked cricket as his professional career aspect, He pursued his dream of becoming a fast bowler in 2018 when he got affiliation from Uttarakhand. Initially, he used to play with tennis balls, He made his first-class debut in cricket on 25 December 2019 for Uttarakhand state in the Ranji Trophy 2019–20.
He was bought by Mumbai Indians as a net bowler for the 2022 Indian Premier League, Madhwal didn’t play in any of the matches in the 2022 IPL season.
He played his first match in 2023 against Punjab Kings at Mohali during the league stage match of his IPL, he bowled 3 overs and gave 37 runs and couldn’t take any wickets in the match. Akash has played 7 matches to date in his IPL career and he took 13 wickets.
