Cricket Australia Announced Their Men’s Squad For The South African Tour

Cricket Australia on Friday announced their Squad for their upcoming White-Ball series against South Africa, Both the T20I and ODI will be led by Mitchell Marsh, The teams will play three T20I and Five ODI matches against South Africa.

Pat Cummins will miss the series as he is recovering from a fractured wrist that he sustained during the Ashes while Smith is recovering from a tendon injury to his left wrist which will take about four weeks to heal and Starc has been suffering from groin soreness after the Ashes.

Ashton Turner has been added in place of Smith for the T20I series while Marnus Labuschagne and Spencer Johnson have been added to the squad replacing Smith and Starc for the ODI series.

George Bailey (National selection panel) said:

“The compacted Ashes series and the World Test Championship was a heavy load for the group, and we are taking a conservative approach to the build-up to the World Cup,” national selection panel chair George Bailey said.

“With the World Cup the priority of the squad, it was determined on advice that it was best for Steve (Smith) and Mitchell (Starc) to join the group in India by which time we expect them to be fully fit and available for the Indian ODI series, plus the World Cup warm-up fixture.”
