Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan provided insight & described MS Dhoni’s tearful moment when he lifted Ravindra Jadeja in his arms after Jadeja sealed the victory for CSK against GT after scoring a six and a four in the last over of the IPL 2023 finals winning their fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

“No one expected Dhoni to react like that. But when the equation was down to 21 off 16 after Rayudu brought us to that position, I think he was anguished at getting out on the first ball. If he’d stayed, he would have finished the match. After coming back in, probably in his mind, maybe he was hurt at having failed to fulfil his responsibility. Maybe he thought, we were going to lose another title after coming this close. But as long as Jadeja was there everyone knew we had a chance. Because Jadeja is a big-match player, everyone knows his capacity,” the CSK CEO told ESPN Cricinfo.
