Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma opened up and acknowledge that many pacers are struggling through injuries and we have to manage with whichever ballers we have, Our experienced ballers couldn’t come in this tour as they are injured.
When being asked about “On playing with an inexperienced pace Attack” Rohit Sharma said:
“We have noticed that fast ballers have taken lots of wickets here ( in West Indies ), Players get injured and we have to rotate them unfortunately because, Hamare pass fast bowlers ki line nahi lagi hui hain (there isn’t long a line of fast bowlers)” Rohit said.
“In India, there are lots of Indian fast bowlers who are injured, so we have to manage the bowlers that we have. That’s why our experienced bowlers could not come on this tour, but a have a lot of confidence that our new boys will do well” He added
“Jaydev is not new he has been playing and made debut for the past 10-12 years. Mukesh Kumar has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket, he has played well for his state as well as in zonal games and for India A and he has been given a chance. We will see with what combination we will play” He further added.
“It will always be a challenge for the Indian Cricket team because we play lots of cricket (Match), Obviously we have to manage players and rotate them and give them enough breaks because later when they come we need them fresh” he said.
“We need to keep track of the upcoming tournaments in our mind as the World Cup is coming and we have to keep everyone fresh for it, we don’t have the luxury to focus on one particular series & we have to look ahead, we also have to check what is coming for us in the future (tournament) and for us which player will be more useful in time to come, That’s why you see we have to rotate lots of players and then new players come, from one side it good also as people are getting chances and we have to create bench strength because we can’t play with one team for years that’s why we have to create bench strength and have to bring the players who are playing well so that they will get the chances to play and we get to see how they handle pressure in International level and how they bring their game”. He concluded
