ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Match Schedule, Time Table, Venue, Latest News & Updates
According to ESPNcricinfo, the T20 World Cup is likely to start on 17th October in the UAE and final on November 14. Originally, the tournament was supposed to be held in Australia from 18 October to 15 November 2020 but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it got postponed until 2021 and later International Cricket Council (ICC) confirm that India will host the T20 World Cup.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was given time by ICC till June 28 to decide the venue for T20 World Cup. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation in India and a possible third wave alarming in the country forced BCCI to shift the tournament.

“Due to the Covid situation in the country, we may shift the ICC T20 World Cup scheduled in India to UAE. Currently, we are monitoring the situation closely. The Health and safety of players are paramount for us. We will take the final call soon,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah told Prasar Bharati’s Twitter handle.
The BCCI does not want to take any risks especially after the mid-way suspension of the IPL 2021 and UAE is a secure tested option.
As per the reports, the first round of the T20 World Cup will be split across two groups and will be played in the UAE and Oman. Round 1, which will feature 8 teams and 12 matches, and amongst them only four teams will qualify for the Super 12s. Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Namibia, Oman, Papua New Guinea, and Scotland are the eight teams in round 1.
The Super 12 phase is scheduled to start from October 23 where teams will be split across two groups of six each and will be playing 30 matches at three venues in the UAE – Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah including the three playoffs.
