The platform is set for the 2022 Women’s ODI World Cup, set to be arranged in New Zealand. The marquee event will begin on March 4, 2022, at the Bay Oval in Tauranga, with the White Ferns taking on the West Indies. The first 5-matches will witness 2 of the most sought-after cricketing rivalries, with Australia up against
England on March 5, and the much-awaited India faces Pakistan fixture on March 6.
A total of 31 fixtures are set to be performed across 31 days, with 8-teams competing to be the world’s champion. 6 cities are set to host the competition like- Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Wellington.
The tournament is also important since it is set to mark the comeback of the women’s global cricketing event since the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic. The last women’s world cup performed before the pandemic was the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia in March 2020. The Meg Lanning-led team had defeated India in the nominal clash at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
