Indian opener Shubman Gill brought up his fifth ODI century off 117 deliveries against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup on Friday. The 23-year-old, who is one of the most promising young batsmen in world cricket, hit 12 fours and a six in his innings. He was eventually dismissed for 117 by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Gill’s century was the cornerstone of India’s total of 302 for 4. The Indian team won the match by 6 wickets. Gill’s fifth ODI century is a major milestone in his career. He is now the joint-fastest Indian batsman to reach the 500-run mark in ODIs. He is also the second-youngest Indian batsman to score 5 ODI centuries.
