The KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have bought a total of 10 players in the IPL 2023 mini-auction retained in Kochi on Friday, December 23.
With a purse of Rs 23.35 crore, they bought 4 overseas performers – Romario Shephard, Daniel Sams, Nicholas Pooran, and Naveen Ul Haq – to strengthen their team for next season.
The franchise broke the bank for Nicholas Pooran, and bid him for ₹16 crores, after a big bidding war against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC).
The smart left-hander was issued by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) last season despite securing 306 runs in 14 matches at a decent strike rate of 144.34, which included a couple of half-centuries. Entire about him, he has amassed 4,942 runs in 256 T20s, including one 1-century, and 27 half-centuries.
West Indies all-rounder cricketer Romario Shephard and Australian all-rounder Daniel Sams were taken for ₹ 50 lahks and 75 lahks, separately.
In 113 T20s, Sams has acquired 131 wickets and amassed 1055 runs. Shephard also has flayed 79 wickets and secured 533 runs in 67 T20s.
At the same time, Naveen Ul Haq, Jaydev Unadkat, and Amit Mishra were buying for Rs 50 lakh. The trio will possibly strengthen the bowling department.
