Australia beat England by 43 runs in the 2nd Test of Ashes 2023 on Sunday at the Lord’s, the match ended with lots of controversies, Three members of MCC has been suspended after angry fans confronted the Australian cricketers Usman Khawaja and David Warner in the Long Room at Lord’s following the unusual run out of Jonny Bairstow, the Australian side were accused of cheating by Angry (MCC) members.
Usman Khawaja and David Warner got into a heated argument with a member of the MCC in Lord’s Long Room after Jonny Bairstow’s controversial dismissal, the MCC member exchanged words with Khawaja, and David Warner was then confronted Khawaja was pulled back by security guards.
The MCC suspended three members who were part of the clash and said they will not be permitted back until further investigation takes place.
Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Said:
“Further to the earlier statement, MCC can confirm it has suspended three Members identified earlier today. They will not be permitted back to Lord’s whilst the investigation takes place and were informed of this by MCC Chief Executive, Guy Lavender, this evening,” the MCC said in a statement late on Sunday.
Usman Khawaja Said:
“Lord’s is one of my favourite places to come. There’s always respect shown at Lord’s, particularly in the Members Pavilion in the Long Room, but there wasn’t today. It was very disappointing”.
Australian Skipper Pat Cummins Said:
“I think (Alex) Carey saw it happen a few balls previous,” Cummins said in the post-match presentation.
“There was no pause. Catch it, straight away, and have a throw at the stumps. I thought it was totally fair play. That’s how the rule is. I know some people might disagree. Just like the catch yesterday, the rule is there. That’s how I saw it.”
Englan Skipper Ben Stokes Said:
“I am not disputing the fact it is out because it is out,” Stokes said.
“If the shoe was on the other foot I would have put more pressure on the umpires and asked whether they had called over and had a deep think about the whole spirit of the game and would I want to do something like that.”
“For Australia, it was the match-winning moment. Would I want to win a game in that manner?
“The answer for me is no,” Stokes stated.
