Indian Right-handed cricket Test and ODI captain Mithali Raj added yet added jewel to her crown on Saturday. She became the first woman cricketer to be awarded with the honored Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.
The Khel Ratna award is the greatest sporting honor in the country awarded on players. It is a mark of identification towards consistent achievements displayed by them in their field over the course of the past 4 years.
The Award ceremony took place in Rashtrapati Bhawan on Saturday where President Ram Nath Kovind the award to a entire host of sports stars. The list involved Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, wrestler Ravi Kumar, para shooter Avani Lekhara, football skipper Sunil Chhetri and Mithali among twelve others.

Raj joined Sachin Tendulkar (1998), MS Dhoni (2007), Virat Kohli (2018) and Rohit Sharma (2020) to be granted with such an honor.
She had already been bestowed with the honored Padma Shri in 2015.
