Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the No.1 ranked ODI bowler in the latest ICC rankings. Siraj’s meteoric rise to the top has been fueled by his sensational performances in the recent past, especially in the Asia Cup 2023.
Siraj finished as India’s leading wicket-taker in the Asia Cup, picking up 10 wickets at an average of 17.10. He was particularly effective in the death overs, where he picked up six wickets at an economy rate of 5.25. His match-winning spell of 6/21 in the final against Sri Lanka helped India clinch the title and also propelled him to the top spot in the ODI rankings.
Siraj’s achievement is even more remarkable considering that he has only played 23 ODIs so far. He is the first Indian bowler to reach the No.1 spot in the ODI rankings since Jasprit Bumrah in 2019.
Siraj’s success is a testament to his hard work and dedication. He has come a long way since his humble beginnings in Hyderabad. He has overcome many challenges in his life, including the tragic loss of his father. But through it all, he has remained focused on his cricket and has never given up on his dreams.
