Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill has become the second Indian and fourth overall to breach the 800-run mark in an IPL season. Gill achieved the feat during the Qualifier 2 clash against Mumbai Indians, scoring 129 off 60 balls. He has now scored 851 runs in 16 matches, with three centuries and four half-centuries.
Gill is only behind Virat Kohli (973 runs in 2016) and Jos Buttler (863 runs in 2022) on the all-time list of most runs scored in an IPL season. He has a chance to become the third player to cross 900 runs in an IPL season if he scores a big knock in the final against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.
Gill’s performance in IPL 2023 has been one of the main reasons for Gujarat Titans’ success. They have reached the final of the tournament for the first time in their history and are favorites to win the title. Gill will be hoping to continue his good form in the final and help Gujarat Titans win their maiden IPL trophy.
