West Indies Skipper on Monday found guilty of breaching the ICC’s Code of Conduct during the second T20 match against India at Guyana, The 27-years old held accountable for publicly criticizing the onfield Umpire for having to use up a player review for a decision in which he thought was not out.
What do the ICC rules say about the player’s misconduct during and after the match?
Level 1 offence: Warning/reprimand/or the imposition of a fine of up to US$ 2,000/ Max penalty is 50% of match fees. (relates to public criticism concerning an incident occurring in an international match.) and the addition of one or two demerit points to the player’s record.
Level 2 offence: The imposition of a fine of up to US$ 5,000 and/or a period of suspension of up to two (2) Matches.
Nicholas Pooran has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching the Level 1 ICC Code of Conduct in the second T20I against India as he broke Article 2.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, One demerit point has also been added as disciplinary record, Its his first offence in 24 months.
ICC Said:
“There was no need for a formal hearing after Pooran admitted to the offence and accepted the sanctions levelled by on-field umpires Leslie Reifer and Nigel Duguid, third umpire Gregory Brathwaite and fourth official Patrick Gustard and proposed by match referee Richie Richardson”. ICC Stated.
