After Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings match at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on May 17, Prithvi Shaw said,
“I think our spinners did a really good job on this kind of wicket. Dropped catches – I think it happens in the game,”
Delhi Capitals a kept tough score of 213 runs on the board for Punjab to chase. However, despite giving a high total on the board, Punjab came very close to chasing the target down all because of the outstanding performance of Liam Livingstone.
DC’s performance on the fielding side was very unsatisfactory due to which Punjab managed to reach within touching distance of the target. There were several occasions when the players misfielded or even dropped the catches.
Seeing this distressing performance opener Prithvi Shaw came to the front and brought to notice the fielding standards of the side.
Shaw said,
“Like you said, it was tough for the fast bowlers out there. But I think our spinners did a really good job on this kind of wicket. Dropped catches – I think it happens in the game, but maybe we were a little casual in between because we scored 213. But a win is a win. Obviously, a little bit late, but we will enjoy it today. Everyone putting their hands up and not giving anything away. Everyone is smiling,” Shaw said in a video uploaded by the IPL.
“I think the mindset was quite simple. After getting out in 3-4 games and then getting dropped and coming back. Definitely, I was under pressure, I won’t lie but the work that I have put in in the practice sessions, not missing anything and trying to work extra for it. Those were the little things that got me going tonight,” added Shaw.
DC’s next match is with CSK at Arun Jaitley Stadium (New Delhi) on Saturday, 20th May, at 3:30 pm
