Since 2011, the RCB team has introduced the concept of the Green Jersey, where they wear the green jersey to the field for their game once every season.
This is a part of their “go green” initiative, which promotes environmental awareness and raises awareness about sustainability and other ecological issues.
RCB’s Twitter handle shared a picture of their player in the green jersey this Wednesday. In this picture, captain Faf Du Plessis, Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik were present, representing the “go green match of the season ”.
This game will be played on the 23rd of April against Rajasthan Royals at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. One particular thing about their Green Jersey is that it is made of 100% recyclable materials, and they are available for sale on the RCB’s website and app.
This campaign has given RCB positive support from their fans, who say that their favourite Franchise uses a creative way to raise awareness about important issues.
To date, RCB has played 12 matches in this Green jersey. When they last wore this green jersey against RR, they lost by 19 runs.
RCB are to play three matches before facing RR on 23rd April.
