Former Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar slams the Indian team for their poor performance and decisions which led India to lose the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final against Australia at Kennington Oval, London. Gavaskar said the BCCI should ask the Indian captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid questions and the reason behind their wrong decisions.
While speaking to Indian Express Sunil Gavaskar Said:
“The selectors and board should be asking questions, ‘Why did you field first (at WTC final)? Okay, it was explained at the toss that it was overcast and all. The question after that should be, you didn’t know about Travis Head’s weakness against the short ball? Why was the bouncer employed only when he had scored 80 runs?” Gavaskar said.
“You know, the moment Head came into the bat, in the commentary box, we had Ricky Ponting saying, “Bounce him, bounce him” Everyone knew about it but we didn’t try”. He said
“The selection committee should call both the captain and the coach and ask why this was not done and what was the reason behind it”. He added
