Amit Mishra starred for the Delhi Capitals (DC) with the ball as the expert leg-spinner finished with figures of 4-24, which are the best of all from his side against the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI).
MI team were building the right platform for their big-hitters to come in later and blow up in the end. Although, Amit Mishra and other DC bowlers assured that the defending champions didn’t get to the total that they would have desired to.
Although the likes of Ishan Kishan and Jayant Yadav trying to bring the MI innings back on track, 137-9 was all they could handle. This was one more time disappointing performance from the defending champions, who had a standing for being a powerful batting line-up closing the IPL 2021 season.
MI Fans were frustrated with the way the MI batsmen just rolled their wickets away in the middle-overs. DC fans, on the other hand, praise Amit Mishra for being at his best despite approaching the sunset of his career. Here’s how fans reacted on Twitter to MI’s batting struggle:
Amit Mishra is now just 8 wickets away from surpassing Lasith Malinga as the leading wicket taker of the IPL. One of the most underrated bowler in history.

Amit Mishra is having a dream night at Chepauk. Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and now Kieron Pollard all in just 10 balls.

Two wickets in an over for Amit Mishra, the wily old fox. But what was Hardik Pandya trying to do? Has let down his team #MIvsDC

MI captain Rohit Sharma was looking in great form and at the moment he was at the crease, it seems to be he would go on to get a big hit. Although, DC captain Rishabh Pant brought Amit Mishra back into the attack, understanding that the leg-spinner had dismissed the 33-year-old Indian opener 6-times before.
The plan worked as Mishra’s flighted delivery outside off-stump induced a wrong shot from Rohit and he was caught at long-on. Hardik Pandya’s bad form this season keep going as he smashed the very first ball he faced straight down the neck of long-on.
Kieron Pollard was possibly MI’s last hope in getting them to a total nearby the 150-160 range. The powerful West Indian also had quite some time to get his eye in. But Amit Mishra’s great googly trapped Pollard in front and MI were at risk of getting bowled out.
