The 6th match of the Women’s Asia Cup T20 2022 saw India Women front Malaysia Women at the Sylhet External Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on Monday (October 3). It was a rain-shortened fixture and the Indian side managed to succeed in the game via the DLS method.
After being requested to bat first, contributions from Sabbhineni Meghana (69), Richa Ghosh (33*), and Shafali Verma (46) support the Indian side post 181 on the board. Pursuing a mammoth total, Malaysia Women were struggling at 16/2 eventually 5.2 overs. Rain arrived and no further play was feasible. Consequently, India’s Women won the match by 30 runs on the DLS method.
India Women have gone up the table after grabbing 2 points. They have now taken their tally to 4 points and sit below Pakistan Women sit at the top of the table, courtesy of a better net run rate than the Indian Women.
Bangladesh Women are 3rd in the points table. They managed to succeed in one game and lost one. Sri Lanka Women. who follow the Bangladesh Women in the points table have had the same journey. Both sides have 2 points each to their name.
United Arab Emirates(UAE) Women sit below Sri Lanka Women. Thailand Women follow the UAE Women as both sides are yet to succeed in a game in this tournament. Malaysia Women have now lost both their fixtures and are languid at the bottom of the table. These 3 sides will be eager to register their initial win in the competition.
Indian top order rise against Malaysia Women
It was a recent opening pair for India, with Sabbhineni Meghana highlighting along with Shafali Verma. Both batters performed some beautiful strokes and not being allowed the Malaysian bowlers to settle in. The duo put up a 116-run position between them.
Richa Ghosh, coming in at 3, performed a good cameo of 33* off just 19 balls to power her side to 181, which they defended victory to register their 2nd success of the tournament.
Malaysia Women, while, experienced a heavy loss against Pakistan Women in their opening fixture. They are unsuccessful to bounce back as they lost to India Women in a rain-reduced one. Malaysia Women will face UAE Women in their upcoming game and will be expecting to turn their fortunes around.
