BCCI digitalizes cricketer payment process, national players probably to benefit from the upgraded system

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started digital its payment process for the benefit of All players and state associations. Players and National associations will directly have to go through less paperwork and reduced time to process invoices as the BCCI has accepted the Database Management System (DMS).

Before that, the BCCI had a lengthy procedure on site with regard to releasing payments. Performers had to raise invoices to their several state units, who would forward them to the interested BCCI staff. From then, the invoices would be sent a report to the BCCI office holder for approval, after which payments would be released.

The process is not just difficult with a lot of paperwork but operational issues also due to which players’ payments would occasionally get delayed. Although, with the digitalization method in place, the BCCI has assured performers and state associations that payment breaks would become a thing of the past. BCCI Assistant Jay Shah told The Indian Express:

“Players don’t need our agreement to receive their games fees anymore. For us, players getting game fees on time is the focus. It will be a kind of cover payment and a smooth process will be followed.”

Also, statements of all players across all age groups (men and women) will be provided monthly instead of at the conclusion of a tournament. Thus, performers can get monthly payments on the basis of the number of matches they have played in a month.

“Players themselves will now be able to raise invoices as per their convenience at any location through the online portal,” Shah added.

Previously, national associations expect till the time of submission of invoices by all performers for the tournament. Although, the e-portal is awaited to make life before for players and associations. The BCCI, state associations as well cricketers can track the details of the invoices as well as the payment status online.

BCCI Payment Table

The BCCI has 3 payment slabs in place for junior and senior cricketers now. Senior players, who have performed up to 20 matches, are paid ₹40,000 per day, while reserves get ₹20,000 per day.

Those who have highlighted in 21 to 40 matches will be allowed to ₹50,000, while reserves are paid ₹25,000. Further, performers who have featured in exceeding 40 matches will receive ₹60,000 (₹30,000 for reserves).
