IPL 2020 is set to begin from 19 September in UAE and after Chinese phone maker VIVO backed out of IPL 2020, Dream11 wins IPL title sponsorship rights with a bid of Rs 222 crore. However, rights are only for four months and 13 days.

Recently BCCI suspended the Rs 440 Crore per year sponsorship deal with VIVO due to border stand-off between Indian and China. As IPL 2020 is coming very soon and they need a sponsor for the show so Dream11 place final bid at Rs 222 and won the sponsorship deal for this year. For your information, two education companies BYJUs (201 Crore) and Unacademy (171 Crore) also came second and third in bidding respectively.

IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel said “In the given circumstances, we are happy with the deal. These rights are only for four months and only for this edition of the IPL”.

Dream11 was co-founded by Harsh Jain and Bhavit Sheth in 2008. It is India’s #1 fantasy cricket app and all the top fantasy cricket apps come after Dream11.

“IPL 2020 will be played from September 19 and the final will be played on November 10, 2020. The 53-day tournament will witness 10-afternoon matches starting at 15:30 IST while the evening matches will start at 19:30 IST,” said BCCI last week.

Originally IPL was played from March 29, but it was postponed due to the COVID19 pandemic.

On August 10, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had sent out invitations to third parties to express their interest (EOI) in acquiring the title sponsorship rights for IPL 2020.

IPL 2020 will be played in three venues – Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
