The English side has decided to show faith in Jonny Bairstow and give him a chance despite his recent poor form with both bat and gloves reports, The 33 years old has scored a total of 141 runs in his last 6 innings in 3 tests. Bairstow scored 78 runs in the 1st inning of 1st test after which he has been struggling to make significant contributions to the team. Fans have been more disappointed with his wicketkeeping than his batting performance, Bairstoe has missed many catches and stumpings, which could have won England matches.
James Anderson said:
“We will help him as much as we can to keep his spirits up because we know what a devastating player he can be. Most players need that support. Every now and then you need an arm around you and a chat,” Anderson wrote.
“It is important to talk to everyone to make sure they are all right and in the right place. Jonny is no different. He has been through so many things in his life that people think he can just deal with it. But we know as players it is our job to make sure we are there for him and support him any way we can, similarly with anyone who is not on top of their game,” Anderson added.
