Jasia stayed playing cricket from the age of 8.
Her father is a farmer and they lived a lower middle-class life.
She used to save every single penny in order to travel to the academy in Srinagar, so that she could play cricket. She started tutoring as well to earn.
Along with cricket she also played softball and kabaddi.
Her neighbors never liked her being involved in sports and in 2004 her house was attacked by militants for the same reason.
In 2005 she participated in the U-19 cricket tournament and won a gold to become the first gold medalist in cricket from Jammu and Kashmir.
