Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has been rested from the upcoming ODIs against West Indies due to a sore ankle the BCCI informed on Thursday ahead of the first ODI match at Barbados. It has been taken as a precautionary measure ahead of the upcoming World Cup 2023.

“Mohd. Siraj has been released from Team India’s ODI squad ahead of the three-match series against the West Indies.
The right-arm pacer has a sore ankle and as a precautionary measure has been advised rest by the BCCI medical team.
The team has not called for a replacement player for the ODI series, which commences on July 27, 2023, in Barbados”.
Shardul Thakur will be leading the pacers in the absence of other experienced fast ballers, The 31-year-old has played 35 matches and has taken 50 wickets in ODIs, he will be leading the youngsters Umran Malik, Jaydev Unadkat and Mukesh Kumar.
