Indian Star of cricket Dhoni became the 7th cricketer to breach the 5000-run mark in the IPL 2023 in his 208th innings. Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Warner, Raina, and Rohit Sharma, AB de Villiers are also part of the 5000-run club.
Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni completed 5k runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during a match against Lucknow Super Giants(LSG) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday.
CSK skipper MSD became the 7th cricketer to breach the 5000-run mark in the IPL 2023 in his 208th innings. Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, David Warner, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, and AB de Villiers are also part of the 5000-run club.
Dhoni, Performing at the Chepauk after a gap of 4 years began his innings in style by curing Mark Wood for a maximum in ver initial ball.
Walking in after the drop of Ravindra Jadeja, Dhoni smacked Wood over the wide of the 3rd-man area for a most and then drilled the short ball well over the deep team leg boundary for his 2nd six. In the process, the CSK captain breached the 5000-run mark in the IPL.
The CSK captain attempted for an additional maximum but was caught by Ravi Bishnoi at the deep screen as CSK placed a challenging 217 for the loss of 7 wickets.
