Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has tested positive for the virus that is Covid-19, the PCB informed in a pre-release on Wednesday.
In a press statement, Misbah-ul-Haq is asymptomatic and, as a result, he will not depart for Lahore with the Babar Azam-led unit and will now be under a 10-day quarantine.
The former Pakistan skipper was the only member of the visiting side to fail 2 pre-departure RT-PCR tests. While Misbah will stay back in Jamaica, the rest of the Pakistan team will leave for Lahore on Wednesday(August 25).
The PCB further replied in its press statement that it is constantly in touch with its West Indian matches, who have notified them that the head coach will be moved to another hotel where he will undergo 10-day isolation under the guidance of medical experts.
’’Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has tested positive and, as such, will not depart for Lahore with his side later today (Wednesday). Misbah, who is asymptomatic, will now undergo a 10-day quarantine, following which he will depart for Pakistan,’’ the PCB said in its press release.
‘’Misbah was the only Pakistan squad member who failed two pre-departure PCR tests. All other members will leave Jamaica as per schedule later today (Wednesday). The PCB is constantly in touch with Cricket West Indies who have confirmed that Misbah will be shifted to another hotel for the 10-day quarantine with a medical specialist assigned to look after his health and wellbeing,’’ the release added.
Pakistan end West Indies tour with a powerful win in the 2nd Test’
When Misbah-ul-Haq is a happy man on a professional show, the Babar Azam-led unit scripted a decisive win against the West Indies in the second Test to draw level the 2-match rubber 1-1.
Left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi was the favorite for the visitors as the talented young pacer bamboozled the West Indian batsmen in both innings to record 6-51 & 4-43.
First, Pakistan endured a horrible start in the second Test as they lost their first 3-wickets for just two runs.
But one time, Fawad Alam (124*) and captain Babar Azam (75) resurrected the fledgling ship brilliantly as they stitched a case 166-run-stand for the fourth wicket.
Not a single ball was bowled on the 2nd day due to wet outfield, and with 90 overs wiped out of the game, the onus fell on Pakistan to push the game impertinent for a series-leveling win.
