Afganistan’s star player Rashid Khan is to miss the first two ODI’s against Sri Lanka due to a lower back injury, the 24-year-old is expected to return for the third and final game of the series. The three ODIs will take place on June 2, June 4 and June 7 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Hambantota. Rashid Khan was amongst the leading wicket-takers in the IPL 2023.

Rashid is expected to return for the final ODI against Sri Lanka Afghanistan’s team physiotherapist said.
“He will remain under full medical observation and is expected to return for the final ODI on June 7,”
Noor Ahmad is likely to play in Rashid’s absence. Afghanistan is supposed to play 1 test 3 ODI and 2 T20 against Bangladesh from 17th June, the team will be praying for the full recovery of their star player before the Bangladesh tour.
