Born in Pretoria later moved to Scotland, Berrington takes a start with age-level cricket. He represented Scotland at every level from U-13 to U-19 as a seam-bowling all-rounder. As an 18-year-old teen kid, he went to India as a part of the European Cricket Council Development team which toured India. Berrington made his ODI and T20I debut against Ireland and after that, he become a regular part of Scotland’s National side.

He was the first player from Associate Nation to score a century in T20I. He achieved this landmark against Bangladesh, he scores 100 of 56 balls and led his side to 34 runs victory. It was Scotland’s first victory over full-member teams. He scored his maiden ton against Ireland in 2014 in World Cup Qualifiers to ensure Scotland’s berth in ICC World Cup 2015. He carried his great form from the last tournament a scored crucial fifty against host New Zealand in their first game of the World Cup. After that, he also got the chance to captain Scotland and drive them to numerous victories.
