This team plays its first matches at M A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This team’s owners are India Cements Limited through Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited holding company.

However, this team was suspended for two years from IPL in 2015 because of the involvement of its owners in the 2013 IPL betting case. This team did come back as the winning team in IPL 2018.

The captain for this Team is MS Dhooni, a legend in the cricket world and is coached by Stephen Fleming. CSK became the first Unicorn Sports Enterprise in India in January 2022.
