Ishan Kishan will replace Rohit Sharma and open the batting nearby Shubman Gill, and established stand-in captain Hardik Pandya. India will take on Australia in the Primary of the 3-match ODI series on Friday at Mumbai-based Stadium on Wankhede Stadium.
The Next assignment will be India’s unique one in this configuration until July. With Rohit absent in the first rubber due to family purpose, the 24-year-old Kishan will get an additional chance to push his case for the ODI World Cup after this year.
“Ishan and Shubman will be opening,” Hardik Pandya confirmed, thereby ascertaining keeper-bat KL Rahul’s place in the middle order.
Although, the engine room has gone cold in the lack of 2 mainstays. While Rishabh Pant is convalescent from a near-fatal car accident, Shreyas Iyer was ruled out in the 11th hour with a back injury.
Hardik Pandya continued that the think tank is not yet scuttling to find a replacement for the Mumbaikar.
“Obviously there is no timeline, but we have to hope for the best. We wish him a speedy recovery. Whatever happens, there is no update as such right now. But I’ve been in that situation where back could be a problem. And [if] it’s going to impact, I don’t think so. Obviously, we’ll miss him, but we’ll have to start slowly and find solutions if he’s not around. If he’s around, then he’s more than welcome. But if he’s not, then there is a lot of time to think about how we can go forward,” Hardik, who will be leading in ODIs for the first time, remarked.
