The Kings XI Punjab franchise has been renamed Punjab Kings ahead of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).
Kings XI Punjab franchise has been renamed Punjab Kings for the 14th season of the IPL2021. According to the media, a formal communication regarding the same has been made to the Board for Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The board has approved the change on its part as well.

The official reason behind the name change is not revealed yet, however, Punjab has reportedly planned a grand re-launch in Mumbai soon, before IPL 2021 auction Schedule. Kings XI Punjab is one of the original franchises of the IPL and also the most underperforming teams in the IPL tournament with only one runner-up position and one Time in 3rd place since the starting of the IPL tournament.
It’s not surprising that Punjab makes a change in the team, They made many changes for IPL 2020 They change captaincy – from R. Ashwin to KL Rahul – and in the coaching departing – from Mike Hesson to Anil Kumble.

However, After these changes, the end result wasn’t different from their previous position. In IPL 2020 they were able to win 6 matches from 14 matches and finished 3rd from the bottom of the table last season.

Kings XI Punjab also makes some changes in the Team with his new look and name. They release some of the players like Glenn Maxwell, Sheldon Cotrell, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Karun Nair.

Meanwhile, last year’s top-performing batting core of KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, and Nicholas Pooran has been retained. In the bowling department, Mohammed Shami and Chris Jordan, along with spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin, have also been retained.
In the Auction table, Punjab Kings is looking for a Specialist Death bowler for the Death Overs.
